Public Hearings to Focus on Budget, Property Taxes

Public hearings will be held to take comments from Royse City residents regarding the City’s proposed 2015-2016 tax rate and budget.  The proposed tax rate is $0.6771 per $100 in property valuation, which remains the same as the existing rate. Through a combination of new taxable properties and increased appraisal values the City’s total budgeted tax revenue will increase by $229,900 or 7%.

The public hearings for the proposed property tax rate are on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 and Tuesday, September 8, 2015. The public hearing for the proposed budget is on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.  All hearings are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Police and Courts Building at 100 West Main Street. Votes to adopt the proposed tax rate and budget are scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2015, following the public hearing.
