Government
Government
Voters approved a home rule charter on May 15, 2004 establishing a Council/Manager form of government. The basic structure of the council-manager form of government is similar to that of a private corporation where the stockholders elect a board of directors which then hires a president to run the company. Under the council-manager plan, the voters elect a city council which, in turn, hires a city manager to administer the city’s day-to-day affairs.
Meetings
The City Council holds business meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Police and Courts Building. Citizens are welcome to attend Council meetings and may speak during the Citizen Participation section.
