Boards & Commissions
There are many boards and commissions serving an array of city functions. They are outlined by the Royse City Code of Ordinances and in some cases the City Charter. Below are short descriptions of each current board and commission. If you are interested in serving on any of these, please complete an application (PDF) and return it to the City Secretary.

Animal Shelter Advisory Committee
This is a Four Member Board, with an additional three persons at-large, advises the City Manager as to the city’s current compliance and improvements pursuant to Chapter 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

Capital Improvements Advisory Committee
This is an Eight Member Board for capital improvements designated by the City Council in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 395.

Community Development Corporation Board of Directors
This board meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 am at 305 N Arch Street City Hall, Conference Room A.

Cultural Arts Advisory Board
This is a Seven Member Board to advise Council on the development and improvement of library services.

Development Review Committee (DRC)
Several Royse City departments are involved in the development process and are represented at DRC. This review of proposed developments and development projects gives staff an opportunity to offer guidance and information.

Heritage Preservation Committee
This is a Seven Member Commission to review and make recommendations to preserve city landmarks.

Main Street Advisory Board
The purpose of the board is to provide recommendations to City Council regarding the Royse City Main Street Program.

Parks, Recreation & Arts Board
Seven Member Board to advise Council on park acquisitions, maintenance, operations and use of parks and playgrounds.

Planning & Zoning Commission
This is a Seven Member Commission to review development proposals, rezoning cases, subdivision plats, reports, and site plans.

Zoning Board of Adjustment
This is a Five Member Board to hear variances to the city’s Zoning ordinances and appeals of administrative decisions, and interpret and enforce the zoning ordinance.
