Teen Court is a program authorized by the Texas State Legislature which allows teens to sentence other teens who have pleaded guilty or no contest to Class C misdemeanor, punishable by fine only, crimes.
Royse City's Teen Court offers opportunities for all types of students to get involved. Volunteers can serve as jurors, prosecuting attorneys, and defense attorneys. All of these roles are crucial to the administration of Teen Court. You must attend one of the training sessions in order to act as a Teen Officer of the Court, either as a prosecuting attorney or defense counsel. You need no training to volunteer as a juror.
The City's Teen Court holds sessions on the third Wednesday of every month commencing at 6 pm. If you are interested in participating, please attend one of the court sessions for more information. You may complete the attached application to volunteer for teen court or you can pick up an application at the Municipal Court Office.
