Outdoor burning is not allowed in the City of Royse City except for property owners with land parcels 2 acres and greater. Outdoor burning includes burning household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush, and other yard trimmings.
For property owners with land parcels 2 acres and greater wishing to burn, a Burn Permit Application (PDF) and other required documentation shall be submitted via email to rcfd@roysecity.com
Fires for Recreation, Ceremonies, Cooking, or Warmth
Outdoor burning is allowed when used solely for recreational or ceremonial purposes, in the noncommercial preparation of food, or exclusively to generate warmth in cold weather. In other words, small campfires that are contained inside of a fire ring which is designed for fire and cooking fires are allowed.Burning in barrels is prohibited!
Trash, electrical insulation, treated lumber, plastics, non-wood construction/demolition materials, heavy oils, asphaltic materials, potentially explosive materials, chemical wastes, and items containing natural or synthetic rubber shall not be burned.
Commercial Open Burning
Permits are required for commercial open burning and trench burning for commercial property land clearing only. Trench burning also requires a GOP permit from TCEQ.
