Patrol Division
The Royse City Police Department's Patrol Division serves as the backbone of the Police Department, providing a visible and responsive presence in the community. Patrol officers respond to calls for service, enforce laws, and deter crime through proactive patrols. They conduct preliminary investigations, gather information, and work to resolve issues that impact public safety. By maintaining constant readiness, the patrol division ensures the community receives timely protection and support. Drone Unit
The Royse City Police Department’s Drone Unit is a forward-thinking initiative that enhances law enforcement capabilities and promotes public safety. The Drone Unit reflects the department’s commitment to innovation, community engagement, and the protection of its residents, and strengthens both efficiency and transparency in policing through strategic deployments. Staffed by three FAA-certified police drone pilots, the program utilizes advanced drone technology to address a variety of operational needs. The department’s drone supports multiple types of cameras, each with specialized capabilities for different missions. It is used for locating missing persons, conducting search and rescue operations, mapping disaster damage, planning events, and improving officer safety.
Honor Guard Unit
The Royse City Police Department's Honor Guard is a ceremonial unit dedicated to representing this agency with dignity and precision during formal events. They honor fallen officers, present colors at official ceremonies, and uphold traditions that reflect respect, discipline, and professionalism. Meticulously trained in drill and protocol, Honor Guard members serve as a symbol of the department’s values and commitment to service. Their presence conveys solemn respect, unity, and pride within both the law enforcement community and the public they serve.
Field Training Unit
The Field Training Unit is responsible for guiding and evaluating new law enforcement officers as they transition from the academy to active duty. Experienced field training officers mentor recruits through real-world scenarios, reinforcing policies, procedures, and professional conduct. The unit ensures trainees develop the skills, judgment, and confidence needed to perform effectively in the community. By combining instruction with hands-on experience, the Field Training Unit builds a foundation for competent, ethical, and service-oriented policing.
Traffic Unit
The Traffic Unit specializes in promoting roadway safety and enforcing traffic laws to reduce accidents and save lives by focusing solely on traffic enforcement and accident investigations. Through proactive enforcement and public outreach, the traffic unit helps maintain order and protect all who travel on the roadways. The Traffic Unit is currently comprised of four officers who are certified in accident investigation and reconstruction. Two of these officers drive Dodge Chargers, and two drive Harley Davidson motorcycles.
